Yoel Goldchain y Michael Murtaugh

The passion for the ocean led them both to study marine biology in La Paz, Mexico. Upon completing his bachelor degrees, Yoel went abroad for a master’s degree in natural resource management at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. While Michael specialized in the identification of marine microorganisms and their seasonality to related to fish cultures.

In 2013 they decided to combine their talents, energies and interests in a commercial enterprise. Shortly afterwards Sofia joined and has since been the manager. Marine Operations has grown rapidly within the underwater maintenance industry. In a short time, it has established itself locally as a leading company in underwater maintenance services.

Commercial success has gone hand in hand with the opportunity to live their passion for marine biology. Their scientific interest has led them to provide environmental consultancy services specializing in biofouling as well as environmental diving in general. They have developed scientific research projects aimed at quantifying and identifying biofouling, as well as their processes and control mechanisms. For example, one of the studies aims to identify the optimum anti-vegetative marine paint for local conditions.

The partners are confident that Marine Operations will continue to thrive, making La Paz a well-known port for ship repair and maintenance where an innovative and eco-friendly anti-vegetative coating has been developed. Currently Marine Operations projects bring together an interesting team of professionals, meet our team.
